European Heritage Days 2024: Sorbonne University opens its doors
Visit the University's on the 41st European Heritage Day on September 21.
This national event, the European Heritage Day gives the general public the chance to discover the riches of public and private establishments and monuments. This year's themes, "Heritage of itineraries, networks and connections" and "Maritime heritage", give Sorbonne University the chance to make its collections, spaces and know-how accessible and to showcase them to best advantage
Throughout the year, the Scientific Collections and Heritage Department of the Sorbonne University Library is responsible for preserving and promoting university collections, and you can find examples of these on SorbonNum, the digital heritage library.
This Saturday, September 21, the Sorbonne University Library, the Archives Department, the Mineral Collection, the Zoology Collection, the Institut des sciences de la Terre de Paris (ISTeP), the Maison Poincaré and the library of the Observatoire océanologique de Banyuls are working on a joint program, offering the following free activities:
- Visit the Mineral Collection
- Geological walk on Sorbonne University's Pierre et Marie Curie campus
- Seeing the Earth beneath the Sea
- Fauna and flora in the oceans
- The oceans at the time of the dinosaurs
- Discovering the history of the Faculty of Science
- Discover our artistic heritage
- The geosciences collections
- Itinerary of a geometric work: the Rulpidon
- Mathematics and art at the Maison Poincaré
