Getting involved in institutional life

All doctoral candidates are called upon to vote and to be represented at various elections: 

• At the    level of the doctoral school (election of doctoral candidate representatives in the ED Council
• At the    laboratory level (election of doctoral candidate representatives to the research unit council)
• At the    university level: elections of the members of central councils, i.e. the board of directors as well as the academic council, which comprises two commissions: the research commission, which includes a users' committee reserved for doctoral candidates, and the commission for education and student life. 
• At the faculty level (election of doctoral candidate representatives to the faculty council, specific users’ committee for the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and the Faculty of Science and Engineering. 

Contractual doctoral candidates also vote for their union representatives at local and national level, and on the joint consultative committee.

Through this institutional representation, doctoral candidates can give their point of view and participate in the decisions taken by the structure. On a personal level, becoming an elected official is a way to contribute to institutional life, to learn about the functioning of the university and to show one's commitment to collective life.
