Welinq
Welinq is a French start-up specializing in the interconnection of quantum processors and quantum networks.
Overview
Welinq is a French company founded in January 2022 and based at Sorbonne University's Pierre et Marie Curie campus, specializing in the interconnection of quantum processors and quantum communication networks. Its solutions are based on the world's highest-performance quantum memories, based on clouds of laser-cooled atoms.
Welinq is developing a complete solution, combining hardware and software, for networking quantum computers and laying the foundations for tomorrow's quantum data centers. Thanks to the flexibility of its technology, its solutions can also be adapted to secure quantum communication networks.
Welinq's approach ensures full interoperability with all types of quantum processors, drawing on its expertise in distributed algorithms, quantum protocols and hardware technologies.
In January 2023, Welinq raised €5 million to accelerate its development. The company plans to deploy its first quantum memory product in 2025, within a quantum communication infrastructure.
The team
Welinq's founding team includes Tom Darras (President and co-founder), Julien Laurat (Hardware Scientific Director and co-founder, Professor at Laboratoire Kastler-Brossel) and Eleni Diamanti (Protocols Scientific Director and co-founder, CNRS Research Director at LIP6). Their combined expertise in quantum physics, engineering and entrepreneurship positions Welinq as a strategic player in quantum technologies.
Today, the team includes 30 researchers, engineers and business development specialists. Welinq also benefits from a first-rate scientific committee, chaired by Alain Aspect, Nobel Prize in Physics 2022.
