Biomemory-Cité de l'innovation

Biomemory

Biomemory is a French company specializing in molecular computing. It designs a data storage solution for DNA synthesis.

Overview

Biomemory is a French company founded in 2021, specializing in the storage of digital data on DNA. It develops innovative solutions that enable digital information to be encoded in DNA sequences, offering unrivalled storage density and exceptional durability.

Biomemory's technology relies on synthetic biology processes to produce long, bio-sourced, bio-compatible and bio-secure DNA fragments. These fragments are capable of storing data with a density a million times greater than that of traditional media, while being stable at room temperature without requiring energy input, thus considerably reducing the carbon footprint.

In November 2021, the French National Archives recorded for the first time two founding texts encoded on DNA: the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen of 1789 and the Declaration of the Rights of Women and of the Citizen of 1791. This feat was made possible by DNA Drive technology, developed by Biomemory.

The team

Biomemory's founding team includes Erfane Arwani (CEO and co-founder), Stéphane Lemaire (scientist and co-founder) and Pierre Crozet (scientist and co-founder). Their combined expertise in biotechnology and information technology positions Biomemory as a world leader in DNA data storage.
