Sorbonne University International Development

The Department of International Development (DDI) ensures the implementation of Sorbonne University's international strategy. It develops strategic partnerships in Europe and across the globe with a broad view to internationalization. The DDI works closely with the presidency, faculties and academic researchers. It facilitates collaboration with partners by helping to develop and create new teaching and research projects.

The DDI’s responsibilities cover:

Sorbonne University engages in long-term partnerships with international institutions, with a view to advancing scientific research and to widely promote its dissemination.

We bring together academic researchers to discuss and develop collaboration in education and research, especially supporting multidisciplinary themes that address the major societal challenges of today. This includes incorporating our partners in the Sorbonne University Alliance.

Sorbonne University’s engagement with Europe. We support participation in European project calls and events, including the 4EU+ European University Alliance, of which Sorbonne University is a founding member. The DDI also supports the development of EU policy positions within university associations LERU and the EUA, and is committed to the European Education and Research Areas.

We work directly with strategic partners to draft mobility agreements, with a goal to involve students from at least two of our faculties. The faculties then implement these agreements.

We take part in managing Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi and the Franco-Chinese Institute (IFC) at Renmin University of China. Our role ranges from executive management and strategic development to communications and events support.

  • We provide support to faculty and staff at Sorbonne University in creating potential partnerships and funding opportunities.
  • Corporate-University partnerships: We build bridges between our academic activities and the corporate world by creating a network of companies in target countries that could contribute to the development of our partnerships.
  • Support for alumni activities abroad: We contribute to the efforts of alumni affairs and the development of alumni clubs abroad.

We work to increase the university’s international visibility, representing the university abroad in person, through digital media and in print for an international audience. We are directly involved in international press, public relations and events, and in organizing the reception of delegations to the university.
