Sorbonne University's PostGenAI@Paris cluster wins €35 million grant
Faced with the challenges posed by the most recent advances in artificial intelligence, several academic institutions have joined forces to form the PostGenAI@Paris cluster. This ambitious project, led by Sorbonne University, was selected among nine other European and research centers as part of the "IA-Cluster" call for expressions of interest, with a budget of 35 million euros over 5 years.
PostGenAI@Paris is the fruit of collaboration between academic institutions with complementary expertise, building on the experience of the Sorbonne Center for Artificial Intelligence (SCAI). Backed by over 60 industrial partners, the cluster was announced by Emmanuel Macron at the gathering of France's leading AI talents.
It aims to contribute to France's artificial intelligence strategy by creating an international center of excellence dedicated to post-generative AI. This new era of AI goes beyond content generation to understand and interact in ways more autonomous and contextually adapted to its environment. PostGenAI@Paris focuses on three main areas: disruptive technologies, healthcare and resilient societies.

A two-pillared approach
The PostGenAI@Paris scientific program is based on two main pillars. The first consists of 21 Collaborative Acceleration Programs (CAPs), which integrate research, training and innovation. These PACs are essential for developing training through research and promoting industrial collaborations on cutting-edge topics. The second pillar is a program designed to encourage interconnection between consortium members and guarantee the cluster's agility and evolution.
PostGenAI@Paris' ambition is to establish itself by 2030 as an international cluster of excellence, with cross-disciplinary expertise in AI and a robust network of socio-economic collaborations. The cluster also intends to significantly increase the number of students trained each year in AI at all levels.
Partners and support
The cluster is led by Sorbonne University and brings together the members of the Sorbonne University Alliance, as well as other academic institutions: AP-HP, Paris-Panthéon-Assas, Cnam, Sciences Po... The cluster also benefits from the support of over 60 industrial partners, committing over 32 million euros in funding.
