Sorbonne University's impressive progression in these rankings can be attributed to several factors:

  • The increase in the score of the H-Index indicator, which is based on the number of publications and citations of an institution's researchers, and which measures their productivity and scientific impact;
  • The heavy weighting of the Academic Reputation indicator, which is intended to measure the reputation of the institution in the academic world;
  • The introduction of the IRN indicator, which is used to measure the diversity of the institution's international collaborations. This is the first QS World University Ranking that takes this indicator into account.
