The first step to enrolling at Sorbonne University is to create your application file on the Campus France site. This presents the overview on how to apply to a French university, depending on each person’s individual situation.

French as a Foreign Language

Before living and studying in France, it’s important to have a sufficient level in French, (written and oral). For university-level courses, level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL) is recommended.

International students enrolled at Sorbonne University and international staff who need linguistic assistance can enroll in our French classes. These courses take place on campus and are appropriate to the student schedules. French classes over the academic year are available: between 2 hours and 6 hours each week during one semester or both, according to the student’s initial level (estimated by a compulsory online placement test).

Courses are free for bachelor and master students enrolled at Sorbonne University.
